Sentient Blood - Original Music
NOCTAVEN MOON HIGH
BY DANNA GRAMME
She was ready to run, never taking chances
In this chaos game that everybody dances
All is fair, and anything goes tonight
Keeping her face straight, so nothing will show
Noctaven Moon high—
Run fast or die.
Steel in her hand,
Blood on the land.
Her innocence fades
In the fires that she’s made…
Under the Noctaven Moon.
She hid in the forest - mud stained her dress.
Haunted by images of him when he couldn’t care less.
Maybe she’d win, maybe this would be the time
But he won’t give in; his desire crosses the line
Waiting for the moment when fate reacts
The warmth of his breath, only inches away
from the cold, hard facts.
Noctaven Moon high—
Run fast or die.
Steel in her hand,
Blood on the land.
Her innocence fades
In the fires that she’s made…
Under the Noctaven Moon
Hiding in a tavern, hood pulled down low, throwing the dice with nothing to show.
A kissing dance, traditions to pay, finding a lap, so you can still play.
She listened close to the secrets said.
Took them to heart before she fled.
She was fast, she was strong.
But the night would end before too long.
Noctaven Moon high—
Run fast or die.
Steel in her hand,
Blood on the land.
Her innocence fades
In the fires that she’s made…
Under the Noctaven Moon
Was that the faint glow of the morning sun?
She felt safe, thinking he’d had his fun.
She walked off, head held high
Then shoved to the wall, with every truth turned lie
She’s known him since five, so close, so alive
He’s the one— the only one— who could make her cry
On Noctaven Moon, he made her cry, made her cry, on Noctaven Moon.
SHADOW CAGE
Written and Produced by DANNA GRAMME
[Verse 1]
You always kept your distance,
Yet you staked your claim,
While making me feel…
Like I was to blame.
You watched me across the room,
Laughing with women… you know I knew.
While I silently stood…
In your … Shadow Cage.
[Chorus]
Where did I go wrong?
Oh, why did I choose
To suffer so long?
Believing you needed time,
Someday… you’d be mine.
So I waited…
I waited in your Shadow Cage.
[Verse 3]
Oh, tonight I broke…
Oh God, I just broke.
So tired of being…
Your little joke.
I kept the tears inside,
And left this note good-bye.
It reads… of our shadow lies.
[Bridge]
I don’t want this anymore.
I’m done living in this loveless war.
Enjoy the life you’ve made.
My path’s been laid.
This time… I won’t engage.
I’m done waiting…
In your Shadow Cage.
[Chorus]
Where did I go wrong?
Oh, why did I choose
To suffer so long?
Believing you needed time,
Someday… you’d be mine.
So I waited…
I waited in your Shadow Cage.
[Verse 4]
It took me months to sleep
Through the night,
And now you’re here…
Telling me I was right.
You say you want me back,
Want me by your side.
Should I believe you?
I don’t want…
I don’t want any more shadow lies.
[Chorus]
Where did we go wrong?
Oh, why did we choose
To suffer so long?
Believing someday
We’d find our way.
While waiting…
Waiting in our Shadow Cage.
I LOVE IN A DIFFERENT WAY
BY DANNA GRAMME
I saw you cry
In your room, as I passed by
I warned you —
I’ve always warned you…
But again, you ask
You always ask
Baby, it’s time… It’s time,
To finally leave it in the past
I love in a different way — born out of the dark
I love in a different way — baby, I’ll break your heart
I love in a different way — stay an arm’s length away
Stay an arm’s length away
You ask so innocently,
“Stop saying the words, the words
That always hurt me.”
Here it comes again —
“Let’s try to be friends
And let the bygones end?”
I love in a different way — born out of the dark
I love in a different way — baby, I’ll break your heart
I love in a different way — stay an arm’s length away
Stay an arm’s length away
I’ll say it hard, and I won’t bend
I’ll never — I’ll never be your friend
I’ve made it clear — you refuse to hear
Don’t ask me again
’Cuz I need it this way
So don’t press me
Just take your leave and go away
I love in a different way — born out of the dark
I love in a different way — baby, I’ll break your heart
I love in a different way — stay an arm’s length away
Stay an arm’s length away
She doesn’t know how dangerous love can be
And I can’t show what loving her would do to me
Again, I saw her cry
In her room as I passed by…
